Kuala Lumpur – the Most Instagrammable Places!

If you are looking for the most Instagrammable places in Kuala Lumpur, you came to the exact right place! As someone who used to live in Kuala Lumpur, I know my way around the city very well and can tell you all about the most impressive photo spots in and around the city as well as give you insightful tips and tricks for you to get the best shots! Kuala Lumpur in my opinion is one of the most vibrant places in Asia. This melting pot of a city is home to three big religions, which all come with their breathtaking and photogenic temples. But the real stars of the show are the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur. These Twin Towers were once the highest buildings in the world and up to this day, they are the most breathtaking skyscrapers that I have ever seen. In this post, I will cover all of my helpful tips to capture them in the best way possible!

Wisma Infinitum & The Colony & The Luxe

Stop one on your Kuala Lumpur Instagram Tour!  There are a bunch of beautiful infinity pools in Kuala Lumpur but one of my favorite ones is the Wisma Infinitum, which is a building that holds loads of apartments. Their pool is on level 35 and offers you one of the best panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur, I have seen so far! From there you can see the Petronas Towers, as well as the Menara Tower and the Warisan Merdeka Tower. It is simply incredible!

Helpful Tips:

  • If you want the most undisturbed shots, make sure to be in the pool early in the day.
  • To get access to the pool, book an apartment in the Wisma Infinitum on Booking or Airbnb! You can do so by booking at The Colony & The Luxe.

The Face Suites Pool

If you are still looking for a place to stay in Kuala Lumpur, then one here can also be your base for your trip. The Pool on top of the Face Suites offers you one of the best views of the Petronas Towers in my opinion and it is amazing to capture these beautiful towers day and night!

Helpful Tips:

  • To get to the pool you have to book a stay in the Face Suites.
  • Getting your shot is the easiest, when you visit the pool in the early morning, as you are not the only one wanting it. However, if you can’t get out of bed early enough, it works to just wait in line for a little while.

KL CC Park

Another great way to capture the wonderful Petronas Towers is to visit KLCC Park. From this beautiful park you will have a lot of space to try out different angles and perspectives to get your favorite one!

Helpful Tips:

  • Don’t come here during noon, because it will be HOT
  • Bring water OR an empty water bottle. You will need to stay hydrated and either bring it or fill up your bottle at the local fountain.

The Marinis on The 57ths

I talked about my favorite rooftop bars in Kuala Lumpur before and one of them is the Marinis. It is a fact, that you can not get any closer to the Twin Towers than here, which makes it perfect for Instagrammers! However, also make sure not to miss their famous cocktails and mini Wagyu burgers!

Helpful Tips:

  • You can find the entrance of the Marinis in the Suria. The entrance is directly oppposite to the Mandarin Hotel.
  • Make sure to make a reservation in advance. Also, book the table for a time when you are able to experience the Marinis before and after sunset.

Thean Hou Temple

It is really hard to describe the beauty of Thean Hou Temple in mere words, when it actually left me totally speechless, every single time I stood in front of it. The Thean Hou temple is one of the most amazing temples in existence. Its decorations and details are incredible and there are so many angles and areas to explore here. In its base level, you will also find some souvenir shops and if you want, you can also get married here.

Helpful Tips:

  • If you want to come during the week, you can take your time and come later during the day. However, if you want to see it during the weekend, make sure to come earlier in the morning. You won’t disturb other tourists with your twirling and you will get the best shots when it is not crowded there.

5 Tips For Your Stay in Kuala Lumpur!

Batu Caves

Another place in Kuala Lumpur that is simply awesome. You will find two beautiful Hindu temples in a limestone cave in Kuala Lumpur. While they are quite cool, the real stars of the show here are the statue of Murugan and the beautiful rainbow-colored temple and staircase that lead up to the cave.

Helpful Tips:

  • I loved going to the Batu Caves. But it also stressed me out. There are many monkeys around, that are just too eager to rob you of your food and (sugary) drinks. Do not unpack any of these on the stairs or in the temple. Sometimes they even get aggressive and bite people. Make sure that you are vaccinated against rabies just in case.
  • If you want to full enjoy this place, you need to come here early. I am talking 7 am. At around 8 am, it was already quite full and getting harder to take the photos.
  • You can reach this place best with a cab. Just download the app „Grab“ and let you bring there!
  • If you want to learn more about the Batu Caves, instead of just visiting it, make sure to book you a tour!

Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens

Another favorite place of mine is the Lake Gardens in Kuala Lumpur. The lush greens over there are simply amazing and super beautiful to capture.

Helpful Tips:

  • The Lake Garden once almost took us out, as we were not used to the heat and humidity. Make sure to bring a bottle of water and wear a hat maybe.
  • The best way to reach it, is via the Nu Sentral Market or the main train station.

Independence Square

This place is special because right here in 1957, the British flag was lowered and the Malaysian flag was first raised, a symbol for the new independence of Malaysia. Today it is a beautiful square with one building catching the eye especially. The Sultan Abdul Samad Building is incredibly beautiful and definitely worth a visit!

Helpful Tips:

  • Bring a sun hat and water, if you are visiting in the middle of the day! The sun here is burning hot and unforgiving.

Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan

As I have already covered a Hindu temple and a Buddhist temple, it is for sure time to talk about a mosque as well! My favorite mosque in Kuala Lumpur has to be the Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan. Going there was one of my total highlights because when you get there, you will get a free tour of the mosque, which was super interesting! We learned a lot about Muslim religion and culture and the building as well. It actually has architectural influences from mosques all over the world!

These are the Instagram Worthy Places in Kuala Lumpur that swept me away the most!
