Where to stay in Hong Kong?

Our hotel for our weekend in Hong Kong is the one and only Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel. The hotel is one of the most beautiful ones that I ever stayed in and I wouldn’t choose any other place to stay at when visiting Hong Kong. The rooms are clean, spacious and incredibly comfortable. Its location is also super amazing with the star ferry being just a short walk away. But its real highlight is its pool that comes not with one view but the view!

Evening Plans: Taking the Star Ferry to the Mainland and Visiting the Night Market on Temple Streets

After checking into our rooms it was time for you to really start into the two days you have in Hong Kong! For us this means riding the star ferry, indulging in an incredible dinner and strolling the night market looking for the best bargains.

From our hotel we just had to take a few steps to get to the Wan Chai Ferry Pier from where we embarked on the star ferry to get to the mainland. We got quite wet that day but was worth it anyway. Riding the star ferry in Hong Kong is simply a must-do!

From the ferry station we went straight to our favorite restaurant in Hong Kong, the Nomads. Sadly since some time has passed between me visiting Hong Kong and today, I am sad to have to tell you that this awesome place has been closed by now. However, there are a tons of great restaurants on that side of town. So next time I am going there, I will just pick whatever appeals to me the most!

After having an incredible dinner, it was time to hit one of my favorite places in Hong Kong: the night market at temple streets! I It is one of the most instagrammable places in Hong Kong. love the buzzing and vibrant atmosphere of this place. Here you can get a wide range of funky products from designer knock-offs to weird electronial devices and gadgets. Always remember when visiting places like this that haggling is key and make sure not to be fooled by pushy vendors. And although I am not the biggest fan of all the things sold at places like this, I still love the atmosphere of it. It busy, loud and spectacular to look at. Make sure not to miss this one!

Day 1 in Hong Kong: How to Spend a Rainy Day in Hong Kong

Although we had hoped the evening before that the rain that had welcomed us to Hong Kong would stop by the time we wake up, it actually didn’t. So all we could do, was to seize the day no matter the weather! That’s why we started into the day with a delicious breakfast and a spa visit! Sadly, the spa we would always go is now closed, so I can’t give you a great tip on this but whereever I am looking for a good spa, I always check out good hotels for their spas!

Afterwards, we walked across the city and did some shopping till the late afternoon. We strolled the great malls of Hong Kong, seeking refuge from the rain and we had an amazing time!

Next Stop: Visiting The Peak

When going to Hong Kong, you should never miss one of the most amazing outdoor experiences in Hong Kong. Which is visiting the Peak! It is one of the most famous sites in Hong Kong, giving you an extraordinary viewpoint of the sky scrapers of the city. We got there by taxi, but you can also ride one of the most iconic tram rides in the world to get up. It wasn’t our lucky day, as the Peak was covered in clouds and we couldn’t see the city beneath it. However, we decided to just make the most of it and still had a look and wandered around the area. Once we got hungry enough, we went for our final stop of the day: The Peak Lookout Restaurant. It is one the best restaurants in Hong Kong (at least that I have been to) and I can’t recommend it enough!

Day 2: Visiting Stanley

The second day in Hong Kong was our lucky day, as our patience with the weather was rewarded with waking up to a sunny sky. We decided that we would seize that day to visit one of my favorite places i n Hong Kong and a must-do for everyone spending a weekend in Hong Kong. Stanley is a beachy paradise that is just a short bus ride away from the city. I love the entire activitiy so much from riding the bus and seeing all of Hong Kong. Including the outskirts and more greener areas too! Stanley itself is a lovely small town with a small but charming market and incredible ocean views on a good day.
